Home time......

Friday 28th July.

The day has finally arrived for our Kenyan Adventure to end. After an early morning wakeup call (4.30) we packed the bus again ready for the short and final bus trip to the airport. Having said our final goodbyes to our AA host Sharon we headed into the airport to check in and grab some breakfast and final gifts before the long flight home.

The flight felt pretty quick and relatively painless with movies and games to keep most people entertained and of course a bit of extra sleep made the 8 hour flight go by quickly.

Bags claimed and bus caught now on route back to Lutterworth in damp and grey conditions making us already miss the Kenyan sun and back drop but we are all 100% not missing the bumpy roads and sudden breaking and accelerating that accompanies Kenyan roads. Excited to see family and friends but sad to leave this mini family, many memories and stories created and shared experiences that will live on.

A massive thanks to all our friends, family and beyond for your support in helping us to achieve a successful volunteer experience in Kenya. From all the donations and support running events this experience has left us with so many emotions and stories. The kind donations of local businesses and friends has helped students and staff in Kenya in so many ways and the pictures and blogs really don't show the full impact the gift and experiences had.

Thanks to Lutterworth College for all the support and guidance to allow such a big trip to go ahead. A special thanks to Mr Solly, Mr Redmond and Mrs Creasey.

Final thanks to the staff who shared this experience with us. Mr Tomlinson for always keeping the mood high, Miss Pinnington with her big guns and endless energy and for Miss Raybould for keeping Taggar under control and for the massive support she gave each and every one of us. Finally thanks to Miss Wilson for all the help and support over the past year and a half we know you gave up so much of your free time and energy to help us fully appreciate the journey and gain as much as possible from this amazing experience, thanks for everything.

Final staff words.

We have shared and experienced some amazing things and are all incredibly proud of the young adults we have spent the last two weeks with. The energy and ideas have been flowing constantly over the two weeks. Crazy questions, funny one liners and some interesting building techniques has seen more laughs than tears fall this trip. Pretty sure everyone has cried at some point due to missing home, the trip being over and saying goodbye to some amazing people. The roller coaster ride that has been Kenya 2017 has for us been nothing but amazing and we feel lucky and grateful to have shared such an experience with such an amazing group. Enjoy your summer and see you soon!!!
