Thompson Waterfall and the Equator
Friday 21st July
Waterfall and Equator
Today we all started the day by returning to our projects.
We continued with the building work and teaching, as well as spending lots of
time playing outside. At Jubilee we set up a volley ball net and started a match.
At first the children didn’t understand it as they hadn’t played volley ball
before. However they caught on very quickly and seemed to really enjoy it! Today
was slightly different though as we all left the projects early to start our
trip to the equator and waterfall. After travelling in a bumpy (and very
cramped) van for an hour and a half, we made it to the equator. After
explaining what the equator was to a few people, we all took lots of pictures.
We then travelled for another two hours to Thompson Falls Waterfall. We were
all so amazed by the sight as I don’t think any of us expected the waterfall to
be as big as it was. After taking lots of photos at the top of the waterfall,
we started the walk down to the bottom. Once we reached the bottom we were that
close that we were being sprayed by the water. This was amazing! After admiring
the view for a while, we started the walk back to the top. A lot of people
struggled with the (VERY) steep walk back up. Even though it was about a 10
minute walk, it felt like it lasted forever. But once we finally reached the
top we got back in the vans to start the long journey back to the hotel.
